Old River City Cafe in New Braunfels

The food and atmosphere are great! Service is very good as well. We enjoy sitting outside in the shade, the fans help with the heat during the day. The kids can play corn hole and checkers, there is a small fountain and back yard fish pond. The staff are always friendly. Only negative is the last 2 times we have eaten here a side was missing from my wife's plate. Our servers quickly corrected the error and we're very apologetic. This small recurring issue doesn't prevent me from recommending Old River City cafe as a great place to grab some delicious comfort food.

Nice outdoor area and live music was nice. Food was just ok though, especially the sides. You can tell some of them are out of a can/container.

My wife had the grilled chicken burger I had the Sunrise Swiss. Both great taste and the potatoes were cut different but they were so good. The staff is just a bunch of lovely folks, we will definitely be going back.

Such a great place, friendly staff, and the owners are amazing! The food is well worth it, especially the chicken fried steak. They were very accommodating for our last minute request and went above and beyond what we could've ever imagined!!! They are GREAT!!

From the outside at first glace, i didn't expect too much. I just thought it would be super simple. Walking into the restaurant, you are welcomed to these really cute ranch/country style chic decor. Very warm and inviting environment. Once i sat down with my small children, the waitress was friendly. Looking at the menu, a lot if fresh items and home made food. I ordered the vegetarian plate. Sweet potato fries were delicious. Too bad i dont live in this area. I will definitely be back.

Delicious, home cooked meals. We sat in the "back yard" and enjoyed the sunset and oasis. It was fun seeing kids play checkers and corn hole.We ordered the chicken fried steak and brisket tacos. Hearty portion sizes at great price point. The amount of brisket you get in the tacos is just what you'd create at home. No skimping like some places like to do.We couldnt resist ordering a slice of key lime pie to top off our meal. The pie itself was silky and perfect amount of tartness. But the vibrant fruit sauce drizzled over the plate and pie slightly stole the show. So delicious I wanted to bottle it up and take it home for crepes or pancakes the next day.Overall a great place with friendly service, we will return.

Great food, nice outdoor dining area. Live entertainment was fantastic. Definitely will be back on our next trip down south.

Foods good and friendly staff. Best mac and cheese I have ever had. The slaw was not for me just a little different.

The beer battered catfish is wonderful. And on Saturdays they have a corn meal catfish special. The place has great service and lots of good food. Texas toothpicks are a fried jalapeños and onions and the spinach artichoke dip are my favorites. I do not recommend the Mac N Cheese. But everything else I have tried is delicious. My server is ALWAYS kind and it’s a really cute little place.

I loved this restaurant. I live out of state and came to visit family in Texas. They had not gone to this place before even though they had passed it many times. We loved the atmosphere, the personable wait staff and of course the food. They will be coming back soon. Next time I'm in Texas, I will be back.

Old River City Cafe offers delicious Comfort food served in a homestyle restaurant. I had the chicken fried chicken. It was perfect. Crunchy on the outside and moist & juicy on the inside. Our server, Lauren took great care of us. There were eight in our party last Friday night and everyone enjoyed their food so much that we went back tonight. We had the same great experience.
